The info coming out seems to be traced back to a certain Louisville fan/media person. There is a purpose to doing this even if it doesn't get them Miller. What this does is promote Louisville's new assistant coach and anytime you can convince the world that your ship isn't sinking, then you can sell your boat for a higher price. Louisville is going through a tough time in the recruiting world, you have Sypher gate, you have Pitino begging NBA programs to take him but nobody wants him...
If you can have media that are fans of your program out there trying to sell your product and make it look like all of these top recruits love you, then in return you hope that other recruits will follow suit and you will end up taking those recruits who fell for the bait.
You can even have direct quotes from Miller and the media can angle it however they want. It is all about how you phrase questions to recruits and how the writer wants to spin the article.
At this point I do not see Louisville in the running for Miller. Things may change, you never know but the only way I see UK not getting Miller is if they are tight on scholarships and they take Nash instead or if Miller and Nash for whatever reason don't want to play together. Cal is a huge fan of Nash, may even like him more than Miller.
If there is any truth to Miller saying UK hasn't been recruiting him very hard lately then this is just Cal being aware of the situation. Miller is in no hurry to commit to UK or anyone, he likes the attention and he may wait until the very last second aka Wall aka Jones (twice)...
If you know a recruit is going to wait for a long time, then you don't put your full court press on him now, your sales pitch will be stale by the time he actually has to make up his mind. This was the case with Doron Lamb. UK kept him at bay. Lamb wanted more recruiting attention from UK and at one point didn't even list UK because of lack of attention. Then when it came crunch time, UK got right back in the mix and landed their guy.
Cal may be focusing his efforts on guys who he knows is willing to commit sooner, fill in those spots and more then likely leaves one spot open for Miller.
What's really funny about the Louisville situation is that many Louisville fans for over a year now have been claiming over and over that Brian Clifton is a cheat. Clifton was Wall's AAU coach who has been like a father figure to Wall, even before Wall was any good at basketball. Clifton had a agency license for a short time and people believed he was just grooming Wall to be his client. This did not happen but the claims went on that he in some way shady.
Now Louisville hires one of Clifton's good friends Tim Fuller and Quincy Miller is very close to Clifton as well...so who was once a shady cheater is now someone they like because they think they now have a chance with Miller...
This just goes to show you that many Louisville fans are set on calling anyone involved with UK recruits cheaters until they can get involved with the exact same people...then they are ok...
