Rumors are rampid right now of two former UK coaches pointing in the Arkansas direction. Tubby Smith has been long rumored to be decking to Georgia Tech and now his name is being brought up as a coach who has already spoken to Arkansas about their position.
Pitino has been long looking for an out at Louisville. He has tried over and over to get back in the NBA but nobody wants him. Personally find the Pitino rumors if true to be a complete sign of desperation. I very much dislike Louisville but Pitino has a better situation there than at Arkansas. He has a new arena, an excellent recruiting class, a talented/high exposure conference and Pitino gets to travel up to New England, which is like home to him. The SEC he would not be able to do this in conference.
I know Pitino has not been a fan of how long the Big East conference season is and maybe he is tired of having to play so many top 25 teams and believes SEC would be a step back and he would be able to get out of Cal's shadow in the state of Kentucky...who knows...
Either choice will make for an interesting experience when Arkansas comes to Rupp next season...
