The question is what in the world could have changed in the last few days???
Lots of speculation out there, the most popular being UK is trying to keep Kanter clear on the same basis Cam Newton remained eligible. The question is, did UK get wind the appeals committee was going to rule against Kanter and are frantically trying anything.
If true, then UK can pretty much say goodbye to Kanter. There is very little connection between the two and would be a complete reach.
I'm a bigger fan of UK going in another direction on this. If you remember my post yesterday stated the NCAA has discussed an adjustment in the rules that would in fact allow a player like Kanter to be eligible. If this is the case, then there is likely factors the Kanter family did not present to the NCAA because under current rules, it wouldn't have helped the situation.
Rumor has it that Kanter's family spent money on flights to the U.S. connected with Kanter's play. These expenses are rumored to be now included in NCAA's revised rule. Kanter's did not present this because it would not have helped under current rules.
Of course you can put this one under "the rumor mill" for now but has added a little more complexity to the situation...
Doesn't look like a decision will becoming until next week at the earliest. Let's just hope this isn't a distraction tomorrow...
Micah: I have been reviewing this case. Do you think that maybe Kanter could be an international exchange student, get a sponsor, and just walk on? I believe Enes Kanter is a good kid and a "victim" of the system.Uk needs 2 be more careful in the future-but if he could be a walk on things wold be fine. I don't think he has a shot at winning this appearl-just IMO, but I don't see it happening.. I think I will hunt him a sponsor and call the NABC on Monday and also discuss it with Dr. Todd! Georgia has an international exchnage student, Kevin Brophy! He walked on about 3 years ago-he was from Australia and an exchange student. I talked to Dennis Felton, and he told me to approach it with the NABC and see what they said. Dennis is now with the Spurs, but with Brophy it was a walk on thing. He later on got killed. It seems 2 me the appeals committee is on his side-if thats the case why do they have 2 ask the NCAA anything?
ReplyDeleteI don't see how anyone who was ruled as a professional could walk on. That is like Dwight Howard deciding he wants to go to college now and so he just walks on...that can't happen.
ReplyDeleteWell look at some of the professional athletes playing college sports right now. Heck make a million or two in baseball then come back and play college football or basketball. You can't tell me these guys have not had access to professional trainers in those sports. What's the difference. The NCAA has no consistency.
