No surprise all five officially declare...(maybe)

We all knew it was coming but all five: Wall, Bledsoe, Cousins, Patterson and Orton declare for the NBA draft...but wait.  Patterson's mom heard of this news and has stated Patrick at this point has not decided and hasn't filed any papers.  Patterson has already tested the waters once, so if he files papers he is gone for certain.  He can't just test the waters and come back like the rest.  They have until May 8th to pull their names out if they do not sign with an agent.  There was some talk of Wall and Cousins coming back but if they declared then they would be gone.  They were not going to even test the waters if they were to come back because they knew they didn't need to see where their draft stock would be...they knew they would be lottery picks. 
I have two problems with all of this.  1) The main one is the timing.  I have been hearing for days on how Wall, Cousins, and Patterson were really torn on coming back or not.  Then as soon as the National Championship game is over they all of a sudden pull the trigger...why wait till now?  To get more attention...period.  They do it in the middle of the final four it gets a little blurb nationally with the media who was focused on the Final Four. 

2) On a personal note, I hate to see guys deck with unfinished business.  Guys come in, at least go to the final four, then you may leave knowing you got the job finished.  Coming in and folding in the Elite 8 and then decking as soon as you get the chance.  Of course these guys have bigger things in mind then doing what is best for us fans but it is still tough to swallow...especially with Orton if he stays in the draft.  Bledsoe's family is in need of the money...so at least he has an excuse but Orton does not need the money. 

We will see if they sign agents, if they are going pro I hope they sign tomorrow.  As mentioned before, if they hold out, they may scare away recruits. 

I love the top notch recruiting and you can't help but go after the top players but championships tend to be built around at least some experience.  I hope UK fans will still get a chance to see guys like Chuck Hayes who makes it to senior night (in four years) and just bleeds blue through and through, not just focused on "gettin' paid"...
