Recruiting Update and other news

 

As many of you know Tony Parker was offered a scholarship from Kentucky. There is more to this then what meets the eye. Here is the thing with recruiting. Sometimes an offer will be given to someone and they will be told, “We only have one scholarship left and we will be up front with you and tell you we have offered Anthony Bennett as well.” Tony we would really love to have you at Kentucky, and we know that you need to take your time with this decision though.

Here is the thing with what happens with above. It lets Tony know that if he wants to be at Kentucky he has to beat the other person to the punch, but Kentucky has done their homework. They know that Tony is really high on UCLA and Memphis. He obviously isn’t going to all of a sudden commit to Kentucky without thinking about it. This is one of those moves that makes Kentucky… Well Kentucky…

It has them have a top player at his position now reconsidering a school that wasn’t giving him too much love at first. But this new offer does something else which makes recruiting great.

Anthony Bennett now becomes aware that Kentucky has offered another big guy like himself. He looks at the offer and talks to Kentucky and they say Anthony we know you have great offers and you are still our number one priority but we need to make sure we cover our boundaries in case you do decide to go somewhere else. Now Anthony we would love to have you, but if Tony was to commit and take this scholarship before you would be willing to give us this commitment then we would have to honor our offer to him. We must fill our needs. This is Kentucky trying to rush Anthony decision to them because they know they are in great position with him.

Now Devonta Pollard who like I said in November would love to play at Kentucky is now going to be making a visit to Kentucky within the next month. Here is the thing with him. The dude is a great shooter as a small forward but shares the position with Shabazz who we all know is the number one player overall. We have room to take both of them, but only if all of the following players were to leave after this season. Teague, Lamb, Miller, Kidd-Gilchrist, Davis, Jones, and Vargas….

Obviously how the season has panned out so far this season this wouldn’t happen. Teague would be back for sure and either Lamb and/or Jones would be also if Jones stock continues to drop. I really believe that this Kentucky team will turn it around and start blowing teams out of the water, and come tournament time will be running on all cylinders. So I feel it is possible for everyone to leave.

I know how recruiting works so things can change but I really feel we get Shabazz and Bennett. I think if Shabazz doesn’t come to Kentucky then UNLV gets him. This will free a way for Pollard who isn’t number one player, but is dang good.

Keep in mind that 2013 is going to be special. I already know of three people who once Kentucky offers will commit on the spot. It is pretty obvious if you follow recruiting because they don’t have an offer yet, but they always are just talking about Kentucky. The great thing is all three of these people are in the Top 20 in the country.

And this is how you know Kentucky is back…..
