In what was another defensive showcase Kentucky routes St. John's 81-59 to improve to 7-0. It was one blocking, alley oop slam fest of a night.
Kentucky swatted away 18 shots to break the Kentucky record for most blocked shots. Davis with 8 blocks, Jones-4, Vargas-2 (in only five minutes of action), them Lamb, Miller, Teague, Wiltjer all had 1 block as well.
Terrence Jones led all scores with 26 points, 11 of those points coming from the line. He was one rebound away from a double double.
Davis was two blocks away from a triple double, as he had 15 points and 15 rebounds.
Other scorers: Lamb-16, Miller-9 (including that epic tomahawk alley oop), Kidd-Gilchrist-5, Teague-5, Vargas-3, and Wiltjer had 2.
The only eye sore was UK's three point shooting, as we only shot 5-16 (31.3%). Of course the three ball wasn't falling from anyone tonight as St. John's nearly went black from behind the arc, something you rarely ever see in the game of basketball.
Cats now have the battle with North Carolina up next...as if anyone didn't know that one. North Carolina is expected to be without P.J. Hairston after he tweeted he would be out Saturday. Hairston is not a starter for North Carolina but is their best three point shooter for a team that doesn't tend to be a great three point shooting team. Without him it either makes Carolina a more predictable team to defend or will require someone like Barnes to step up his game even more.
