The latest on Poole and recruiting update

First on Poole.  Cal is not promising him anything or begging him to come back to the team but has told them that best will play each year.  If this year he continues to develop and next year out plays other recruits then he will play.  Poole has confidence that he can do this but is this enough? Who knows.

As for recruits we have three recruits likely deciding this week.

Alex Poythress #19 five star 6'8 forward is deciding Thursday.  This may end being one that UK waited too long to bite on.  A month ago he was ready to commit to UK and UK told him to hold off.  Now who knows.  I will say this, it is between UK and Memphis and lets say if he goes to Memphis there is some shady stuff going on.  Lets just say it isn't always just offering players parents coaching positions or other jobs that hits the "get the family" target.  Does Poythress do what is best for him or what can help out his family in a shady way?

Personally think he goes to Memphis but hope I'm wrong.

We also have #25 Gary Harris deciding.  It is a tough call between Michigan State and Kentucky.  It wouldn't surprise me at all if he is concerned of being out recruited at UK and not seeing the minutes he wants and goes to the Spartans.

Then you have #11 6'8 forward Jarnell Stokes. Of the three I think we have the best shot with him.  I would guess it is 50/50 between us and Memphis.

Putting all that together and we have a 50/50 shot of losing all three and then UK may be in trouble next year.

Of course all is mute if Davis, Teague, Gilchrist and Wiltjer are required to come back next year...

So who else is left?  We would still be in the mix for some top recruits but it may be take them or bust kind of mindset if we whiff on at least four high priority recruits in a row (Coleman, Poythress, Harris and Stokes).

Muhammed #1-still torn between UCLA and UK in my opinion, unless UK has a late push I see him going to UCLA

Bennett #7-I like UK chances but who knows

Pollard #9-UK or Texas

There are other four stars that UK would likely try to pick up the recruitment on if in fact we need to.

This may not be the best recruiting class for Coach Cal and may not be a top 15 team next year.  The season after though we should right back at it with a dominate 2013 class.
