Pitino reneging on taking Woods?

According to Jody Demling: http://jodydemling.courier-journal.com/ Rick Pitino may be changing his tune on taking Woods. Woods went from a "coming to Louisville" to a "Pitino is looking into the situation and talking to people."

Louisville fans for the most part have shown a high level of intelligence on this situation and showing class by making a high outcry against this and for many this was the final straw for Pitino before they unloaded on message boards on their former icon Rick Pitino. Pitino's personal problems, NIT's and no titles in his tenure, his clear interest in any NBA team that will show any interest. His recent lack of recruitment including not just ineligible recruits but basically an entire ineligible 2010 class. Wroten heads to Washington despite Pitino's desperate stockerish level of recruitment, Bello and Miller on the verge of committing to Baylor and now the Woods situation being that final straw.

Pitino is a desperate man, trying to save his reputation and his career. So desperate he was willing to take any player if he saw any glimpse they may help him win. The problem is the Louisville fans by far said heck no to this. They want no part of Woods and neither does any other major program in the nation.

Woods goes out misleads anyone who will listen that major schools are interested. Just because they look into his situation, doesn't make them truly interested in him. He is putting this out there in an attempt to make his situation look better. UK has no desire to even pick up the phone and call Woods let alone offer him a spot, nor has anyone other than Louisville to my knowledge.

Now if Pitino backs off on this situation, it has to help his reputation compared to if he would have taken him. The question is, will Louisville fans see the real reason why Pitino changed his tune. Maybe he will try to spin it that Louisville was never truly interested. Good luck with that lie, you don't bring in recruits on visits and reports come out of a commitment without a high level of interest.

So what changed? An out cry of your supporters is what changed. Pitino knows his reputation is not great right now. He was willing to bring in a recruit who didn't deserve to play Division 1 basketball in hopes his help would bring in w's and hence bring up his reputation. Then he saw that taking a player likes Woods, would actually hurt his reputation with fans. So now he is reneging.

Hopefully Louisville fans will see that Pitino isn't changing his mind because he is seeing the "moral light" of the situation. He is looking out for #1, himself, doing what he needs to do to help his reputation. Are you really proud of having a coach that the fans have to make an outcry for him to do what he should have done in the first place? By not show interest in this guy in the first place...don’t let Pitino snake out of this one, no excuses for this non sense.
