-Rodney Purvis, the #2 player in the 2013 class cuts his list to 15 schools via twitter: UNC, Duke, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, VCU, Baylor, Xavier, Texas, Miami, Louisville, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Marquette, Memphis, Oklahoma, South Carolina and N.C. State.
If you are counting yes that is 17...hey we are recruiting him to play basketball not to be an accountant...
This of course isn't major news by any means, not only is that a ton of schools but "cutting list" means very little unless a player is close to announcing. Teams all the time come out of no where and are added.
-The camping has begun (see pictures below). Cal had this to say today via Twitter about the "madness" for THE Madness...
"Have I told u all lately that ur crazy? Just walked outside & I'm blown away by all the tents that r set up for Big Blue Madness tickets."
"Everyone is respecting one another & being safe & having fun. I've got some recruiting today & Thurs but we will be stopping by soon."
As of 5 eastern today, apx. 360 tents are up. This is significantly higher than last year at this time. The total for last year was 420 and 205 on the first day. Those who enjoyed the experience from last year are back and brought friends. Also the fact that Cal and the players surprised everyone by coming out last year makes it even more enticing.
Jon Hood has already been out with the fans. If others haven't yet, they soon will be.
According to current Twitter poll results from UK Athletics the most popular name for the UK fans in tents are the following: 43% Big Blue Village, 41% Enes Village, 10% Cat Colony, 5% Camp Cal 2 (last year was called Camp Cal, this was the least popular because sequels are never as good and this year is clearly booming).
-Anthony Wroten is close to announcing his decision. It seems to be down to Washington and Louisville since UK will not offer. He has recently posted several times on his Twitter "L.O.E." and some Louisville fans that his "loyalty to everything" tweet may be his way of saying I will be loyal to my state and go to Washington...
I not only want to see a top talent go to Louisville but I'm already annoyed at the UofL fans and media stating UofL beat UK out on a player which is of course dead wrong...can you be annoyed by something that hasn't even been done yet?
Wroten got a in home visit from Seattle U's coach Dollar today...now Wroten choosing Seattle U would be quite the ultimate insult to Louisville but very very unlikely.
-David Telep made an interesting point today pretty much attacking the development of Bruce Pearl and Billy D.. Scotty Hopson is the only player in the 2008 top ten still in college. Of course there were many haters on Hopson's game because of his desire to show off in AAU events and lack of desire to try for his high school. UT fans will also just argue Pearl and UT is just such a great place, players want to stick around for awhile...right...
Nick Calathes is the only player in the 2007 top ten not in the NBA. He is making good money in Greece but not John Wall/Demarcus Cousins/Patrick Patterson/Eric Bledsoe type of money...
-John Pelphrey is pulling down quite a 2011 class as #27 4 star Ky Madden committed. Add this to 5 star #18 B.J. Young, 4 star Mickelson and 3 star Ross.
The talk is Madden woke up this morning ready to pick Ole Miss but Pelphrey's last pitch changed his mind...way to seal the deal Pelphrey!
-The SEC is doing quite solid in the 2011 class. By my count, the SEC has landed 19 top 150 players with plenty of uncommitted players left.
