At one point he talked Cal into an offer but Cal wanted Wiltjer more and he took his spot. Behannan would have likely been a role player who would have been recruited over. Cal made this clear to Behannan but at one point sold Cal on the fact that he didn't care about this and just wanted to be a team player.
Wiltjer is the better option but Behannan is a good pick up for Louisville. It hurts to say it but Louisville is shaping up to have a great 2011 class and may end up with the 2nd best behind UK.
Louisville currently also has #32 4 star Wayne Blackshear, #72 4 star Zach Price and is high in the mix for several other top recruits including: #5 Quincy Miller, #10 Josiah Turner, #30 Anthony Wroten, #42 Nick Faust, #43 Deuce Bello, and #44 Jakarr Sampson.
Of course none of these recruits were players UK had room for. The day we chose Anthony Davis is the day we chose to stop recruiting Quincy Miller. Miller is a top talent and will be tough to watch if he does in fact choose Louisville over Baylor. Davis was simply the better option for us, sadly saying no to him, may mean he goes to our bitter rival...time will tell.
Pitino needs this, if he flops on this class and with his lack of ability to find an NBA job despite seeking every opening the last few years...it may have to to hang it up.
-In other news a report has came out from the New York Times stating Kanter's general manager in Turkey claims they paid Kanter. The problem is, this isn't nothing new. UK is aware of the numbers and reported these numbers to the NCAA a long time ago.
When you play for a prep school, you are given money for expenses, travel, get an expensive education paid for, that others who don't play sports have to pay for. Some have this mindset of, if a player is paid a $1 then they lose their eligibility...it isn't that simple at al.
It is a tough call by the NCAA that will affect future decision on foreign players. They are expecting word in 7-10 days according to Cal. UK feels strongly that he will be cleared. The question in my mind is, will there be some type of suspension involved.
