1) TMZ is known for everything but being credible and they made a great business move by reporting this. They are receiving hits after hits from all UK fans and people who would love to see UK go down (which is all basketball fans who don't root for the Big Blue Nation).
2) I haven't heard one report with anything solid on UK being trouble, I'm curious how many of these watered down reports it's going to take for the nation to quit hoping this is finally the story that will bring about the destruction of UK. It seems another one comes out and many forget about all the others and actually take this seriously.
3) The reality still remains, part of what they are saying is true. Violations have followed Cal's teams in the past, even if it wasn't Cal's fault. UMASS got in trouble because of Marcus Camby, who Cal brought to UMASS. Memphis was hammered because of Derrick Rose, who Cal brought in.
Cal is one of the last coaches I could ever see getting UK in trouble for paying off recruits, this type of violation we as UK fans should never be concerned about. UK and Cal are such a great package deal we don't need to go that route to land top recruits.
That is like Harvard and Yale paying students to go there instead of the other way around, where they are crazy expensive compared to many other schools. They know they offer a degree that will help their students put themselves in a great position to land a great job and can be picky on who they choose to come and can charge a crazy price.
UK and Cal provide students with the exposure, facilities and development to prepare them for the NBA better than any other program. Players are pounding down the door to come here. There are top guys in the 2011 and 2012 class who would commit today if UK would offer, they are waiting and hoping to get that call when other schools are begging them to commit to their programs...
Now as for UK being in trouble in other ways...it isn't impossible, the Camby/Rose situations were not exactly situations that much could have been to be avoided. Also with UK bringing in so many guys who jump to the pros so soon, our roster will over time have a significant more players than other teams. More players on a team over the years means more potential players doing something they shouldn't have without Cal and UK's knowledge...
This doesn't mean we need to be worried, just sit back and enjoy a great time to be a UK fan. Don't spend this time falling into other fans hands and believe the junk by reporters who just want to receive hits and many are wishful thinkers hoping UK and Cal gets caught.
