-I continue to hear good things about Jones. It seems from UK's side, they are wanting things to calm down before Jones announces to UK. Washington is aware that he isn't committed to them despite the announcement, they are not aware that Jones has told UK he is coming.
Now Jones has time to be swayed...he clearly was swayed once but he realizes it was a mistake as soon as made it. His dad saw it in his eyes he wasn't happy and told him to call Cal and that is how Jones ended up calling Cal.
There is still no indication on when Jones will announce and he could always be swayed to stay with Washington...I still like our chances but I liked our chances right before he picked up that Washington hat, so don't just assume he is a lock...let it be more of a pleasant surprise then a "we lost him for a second time!" type of deal.
There is other good news details on Jones but I can't confirm all of that to be true...all I can publicly say at this point is the only negative thing I am hearing is that fear he could be swayed back again...outside of that feat, we seem to be in great shape.
-Thortnon is a high prospect for Cal and company. They believe he can compete for Miller's spot at the 3. Miller will likely get the nod because of his experience but it will force Miller to play at a higher level because of the competition. This is exactly what Miller needs, he doesn't come and play at the level he does in practice. He can play better than what we see of him in games, he needs to be pushed.
We also lack depth and Thortnon will help with this.
-No way does UK get Eloy Vargas or Chris Hill...Vargas would have to take way more classes then possible for him to eligible, so it's not happening...
Chris Hill is not liked by UK in academics, talent and how his chemistry would fit with the team. He would love to play for UK and would love to try to get other big schools after him, claiming he has interest from UK. He doesn't...so we need to move on.
-Our academic situation is a problem and needs to be fixed. Do realize this wasn't just a Cal's recruits issue. There were older guys who had issues as well. So the argument "one and done players don't care about academics" isn't the main issue and Wall's grades were excellent.
There is some talk on this being a reason why Orton and Bledsoe are pushing to go pro because of academic issues...don't expect either back...

Vargas already has grades..
