SEC Awards Are Out: Did Cal catch the UT jersey number? Because he was robbed...

SEC awards are in, and needless to say there are several question marks.

John Wall — Player of the Year, All Freshman Team, First Team All-SEC

Demarcus Cousins — Freshman of the Year, First Team All-SEC

Patrick Patterson — First Team All SEC, First Team All Defense

Eric Bledsoe — All Freshman Team

Big question mark is how can Wall win player of the year but can't win freshman of the year? How do you tell someone that out of all the freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors, you did the best but uh uh you weren't the best freshman...how does that make sense in anyway???

Yes I get they wanted to show Cousins some love, that he rightfully deserved but it has absolutely no logic to it...at all...just make Wall and Cousins co players of the year and co freshman of the year and be done with it. Neither one stood out more than the other, they both deserved it...there is nothing wrong with co if they both truly deserve it. Not to mention there is nothing completely illogical about this that discredits the whole thing...

The biggest question mark is Calipari not receiving coach of the year honors. How do you come into a new team coming off a NIT berth, bring in almost all the talent outside of Patterson and Miller, finish the season #2 in the country, win the SEC by two games and then hand it to Stallings from Vandy. We swept Stallings...

Again, something else that shows the awards are a joke and have no credibility what so ever. Coaches should truly have to explain why they didn't vote for Cal. I get that for Stallings to take an academic school like Vandy and have a top 20 team is impressive, but part of "who is the best coach?" isn't just x's and o's but recruiting well. You shouldn't by any means get votes because of your ability to take little talent and do well with them. That is like a student receiving a C on their test and going up to their teacher claiming they should be given a higher grade because they did that well without studying...that is just a ridiculous concept. The student should have studied and of course they are not going to get extra points for not studying. In coaching you put yourself in a situation to succeed by recruiting well, and if you don't, then that is your own fault. Not something you should be commended for.

Maybe it is harder to recruit at Vandy, but it's Stallings choice to be there, he put himself in that situation. Why should he receive extra support for putting himself in that situation? My friend Cal, you were robbed, bottom line...I would press charges.

  3. Cousins & Wall 1st tm All-Americans on everyone's list. 4 UK players on All-SEC tms, took NIT tm to #1 seed, transformed Patterson's & Liggins' games, blended former starters w/young superstars & had them playing like brothers, never mind publishing a book & the 1M+ Twitter followers, & the $1.5+ Hoops for Haiti. The national blogs say it all today - SEC coaches are a national JOKE for this!
