Many fans believe with that many visits, UK can expect a commitment soon...you never know with recruits but as for the 2010 class, that is quite a possibility.
The six recruits who "might" be in this weekend are:
2010 5 star guard Josh Selby
2010 5 star center Enes Kanter (pictured screaming in his best Turkish ahhhhh)
2011 5 star guard Marquis Teague
2011 5 star small forward Michael Gilchrist
2011 5 star power forward Quincy Miller
2011 4 star small forward Deuce Bello (not to be confused with Duece Bigalow)
Throw in a few walk ons and that group of visitors alone is a top 25 team today.
Knight and Selby are both finished with their high school season. Knight stated he wanted to announce his decision as soon as his high school season is over and well its over...it wouldn't surprise to hear his announcement in the next few weeks. With Selby in town this weekend, I'm curious if he feels the pressure to beat Selby to the punch.
Lamb has stated for awhile he wanted to go home for spring break and talk it over with his parents before deciding and today was the last day of class before spring break. He will be on break for the next two weeks.
There are some good news roaming around on both Kanter and Jones. Kanter has some eligibilty issues and this may be the only thing that could keep him from coming to UK. Kanter when overseas, played on a team that had paid players on it, despite not being paid himself. The NCAA in the past has given players at least a half a year ineligibility for this. Kanter has been projected as a 1st round pick in the 2011 draft. Would it be worth it to take Kanter if he is misses the first 20 games and then he goes pro?
If we lose Patterson and Cousins and have an open scholarship just sitting there, then yes it would be worth it. He could continue to develop his game in practice, then come back and have time to work himself into the rotation and help bring us back to the Final Four.
Losing first round picks will not bother me a whole lot because it will usually mean they did well enough for us to earn a 1st round pick and they will represent us in the pros. On the other hand, I don't like losing guys like Randoph Morris who didn't do enough to make him a first round pick and could have helped the program if he stayed. He may be on the Hawks team, but isn't really representing us very well sitting on the bench.
I'm getting excited about the 2010 class, it's been a long wait for commitments, but if it works out like I think it will, it will be worth the wait!
