Keep Your Head Up Cat Fans!

Well there is no way to spin this one, this was not a good night for UK and our season is over. The rougher part is we didn't lose because a team just played out of their mind, WVU hit some shots but they didn't play out of their minds, we just laid an egg just in time for Easter. Could not hit threes, bad at the line, Bledsoe going out early hurt, on and on and on...you saw it...so no reason to re hash it.

At least the three point streak didn't go down. It would have stung more personally if we had to see that streak go down in the process. I get into streaks and when UK didn't make the tourney last year I was upset more of the streak being over then anything else but that is just me.

The good news is we still had a great season, sec season champs, sec tourney champs, we beat louisville and north carolina, first to 2,000 wins, first time to the elite 8 since 2005.

Not to mention we have a great coach now in Calipari!

What that means for us cat fans is we do not have to wait ten more years at another good season. Every year under Cal will be a good year.

We are in waiting mode on guys like Cuusins, Bledsoe and Orton. Wall and Patterson are gone for sure, Cousins is likely gone as well. I would expect Bledsoe and Orton to come back but with the chance of there being a NBA lock out in 2011, there may not be a 2011 draft which may push guys who would be willing to come back for another year to go this year and get under contract before the lock out occurs. We shall see.

Even if many do leave, we will likely have a great recruiting class coming in. Not to mention lots of guys in the NBA to root for. There are no recruits on the level of Wall and Cousins and the odds of us being as talented next year isn't likely.

Even though we may be less talented, we will have more guys who knows Cal's system. Cal doesn't have to teach the whole entire team his style and philosophy.

Also, as we are looking at who is going to be in the final four, it isn't always the top talent who make it. Kansas, UK and Syracuse among others are not there. Even if Duke wins tomorrow, Duke is the top talent in the final four? This just shows you we could easily be in the final four next year.

So it isn't a good night for sure and watching the rest of this tourney will be hard but hey at least we are not Kansas fans.

So keep your head up Cat fans, we have lots to be proud about and lots to look forward to.

It is still great to be a Cat!
